Sulphur Bluff competes in track meet
PRAIRILAND — Sulphur Bluff competed here in recent track action.
Dylan Horn for the Sulphur Bluff varsity boys placed first in pole vault. In the 3,200-meter run, Everett Wilder was first, Zach Hope was third, and Ryan Watts was fourth. In the 800-meter run, Ken Wade placed fifth. In the 110-meter hurdles, Mintz placed fifth. In the 300 meter hurdles, Jacob Mintz placed sixth. In the 1,600-meter run, Wilder placed first, and Hope placed third. Watts came in sixth. The 1,600-meter relay team came in fifth. They are Ken Wade, Everett Wilder, Zach Hope, and Josh Formoso. Brittanie Andrews placed third in shot put and fourth in discus. In JV competition, Andy Adair placed fourth in shot put and second in discus. Tyler Hampton placed sixth in long jump. Jackson Dailley placed fifth in triple jump, and Landon Overly placed sixth. The 400- meter relay team placed third with runners Dylan Horn, Jacob Mintz, Tyler Hampton, and Jackson Dailey. Tyler Hampton placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles. In the 800- meter relay the team placed third with runners Joe Hill, Dylan Horn, Jacob Mintz, and Jackson Dailey. In the 300- meter hurdles, Tyler Hampton placed fourth. Dylan Horn placed sixth in the 200-meter run. Travis Allan placed fifth in the 1,600-meter run.
The Sulphur Bluff high school track team competed at Hawkins today and will compete at Greenville on Friday.

Lady 'Buffs pound Saltillo

SALTILLO — The Saltillo Lady Lions lost to Lone Oak 16-4 in Celeste softball tournament action.
Coming off a successful basketball season, Saltillo had a tough time getting the bat to connect with the ball during the first few innings of play.
Leading hitters for the Lady Lions were Brooke Lane three for three, one RBI, one run; Regan Martin was one for three at bat, with a triple, one RBI, one run; Emily White was also one for three with a RBI; Kimber Thompson was one for two, one RBI, and a double; Erika Mobley and Kirsten McLane each were one for three at bat.
Pitching for Saltillo was Kirsten McLane. She pitched five innings, struck out four, allowed 16 runs, six walks, and 11 hits.
