Como-Pickton JH earns fourth across board at Quitman meet

QUITMAN—The Como-Pickton eighth grade boys track team competed at Quitman on Monday and came home with a fourth place winning with 112 total points. Grand Saline won first with 146, Winnsboro earned second and Alba-Golden was awarded third each with 113 points.    From Como-Pickton eighth grade: long jump: Bryce Steele, first-17-2; high jump: Bryce Steele, first, 5-8; Matthew Sharp, second, 5-6; Yoan Preciado, fifth-4-10; pole vault: Hank Tullis, fourth-7-0; 2,400-meter run: Corbin Flora, third-9:15.2; 400- meter relay: Como-Pickton, first-50.23; 100-meter run: Matthew Sharp, fifth-12.92; 800-meter Relay: Como-Pickton, third-1:51.1; 400-meter run: Hank Tullis, first, 1:01.9; Justin Radney, fifth, 1:04.9; 200-meter run: Bryce Steele, third-26.73; 1,600- reter relay: Como-Pickton, first-4:15.7.
In seventh grade boys' competition, Como-Pickton track team came home with a fourth on Monday earning 55 points. The winning team was Winfield with 166, followed in second was Quitman with 131, Winnsboro earned third with 93.
From Como-Pickton seventh grade: Long jump: Erich Holder, third,16-3; triple jump, Cole Mitchell, sixth-26-1; pole vault: Erich Holder, first-8-5; Ruben Hernandez, second-6-0; 2,400- meter run: Nicky Elizondo, sixth-11:17.36; 800-meter run: Fernando Alonso, fourth-2:35.80; 800- meter relay: Como-Pickton, second-1:59.77; 300-meter hurdles: Cole Mitchell, sixth-59.89; 1,600- meter relay: Como-Pickton, fourth-4:58.86.
The Como-Pickton eighth grade girls track team competed in Quitman on Tuesday and earned 89 points finishing fourth. Quitman won with an even 200 points, Grand Saline followed with 146, and Alba-Golden was third with 115.
From Como-Pickton eighth grade: Discus:  Guadelupe Ramirez, second-57-1.5; Alydn Green, fifth-49-0; long jump: Carmen Schakel, second-13-6; Kaci Fields, third-13-2; Natalie Pirrone, 12-3.5; triple jump: Carmen Schakel, third-25-6; Victoria Fuller, fourth-25-5.5”; Kaci Fields, fifth-24-11; shot put: Guadelupe Ramirez, 24-7; Alydn Green, sixth-20-7; 100-meter run: Carmen Schakel, third-15.43; Victoria Fuller, fourth-16.01; Kaci Fields, fifth-16.33; 400 Meter Run: Natalie Pirrone, second-1:16.83; 1,600-meter run: Carmen Schakel, third-7:35.41; Guadelupe Ramirez, fifth-7:51.49; 1,600-meter relay: Como-Pickton, third-5:34.74.
The Como-Pickton seventh grade girls track team also earned a fourth place with 79 points. Winning first was Quitman with 171, Alba-Golden had 158 points for second, and Winfield earned fifth with 29 points.
From Como-Pickton seventh grade: Long jump: Joy Den Hartog, fifth-12-7.5; high jump: Taylor Schepp, fourth-4-3; triple jump: Savannah Shockey, second-26-11; Joy Den Hartog, third-26-5.5; shot put: Berenice Ledesma, first-20-11.5;  Mikaela Jacks, second-20-10.5; 100-meter run: Savannah Shockey, sixth-15.61; 200-meter run: Savannah Shockey, third-31.55; 1,600-meter run: Mikaela Jacks, first-7:20.53; 1,600-meter relay: Como-Pickton, third-5:23.33.
