To understand the long journey of the 2013-14 Sulphur Springs Wildcat basketball team, you have to remember where they started.

The last season the Wildcats had made the playoffs was the 2008-09 season. After that, Sulphur Springs fans did not have much to cheer about during some lean times.
Two coaching changes later, you can fast forward to this year’s team which went 17-13 and made the playoffs.
The Wildcats lost 53-40 to Wylie in bi-district, but the program was the overall winner.
Sulphur Springs is no longer an easy W in boys basketball.
“Making the playoffs in general is always a highlight, during that district run of seven win in a row,” said Jeremy Josey, Wildcats head boys basketball coach. “I would say the win at home vs Texas High and then winning at Mount Pleasant was a statement win for us. We believe the program is certainly heading in a better direction, but we have a lot of work to do and cannot be complacent with what we accomplished this season.”
The Wildcats return a good group for next year. They have something no other recent team has had - playoff experience.
