In the high school playoffs all the teams still playing are good.

Teams have to bring their best games to advance, such in the deal for the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats.
Their foe tonight, Mansfield Summit has the banners on the wall to be recognized as a quality opponent. They won state as a Class 5A team in 2009 and took the girls Class 4A title in 2012.
Now the Lady Cats will go toe-to-toe with the Lady Jaguars in playoff competition.
Sulphur Springs, 23-5, takes on No. 11-state ranked Mansfield Summit, 22-7, at 7 p.m. today in the area playoffs. The game is set for the McKinnney North High School Gym.
Sulphur Springs has the ability and talent to play well against good teams which is what Jeff Chapman, Lady Cats head girls basketball  coach is counting on.
“I only saw one video, but they are very athletic and quick,” Chapman said. “They press and bring a lot of pressure defense.”
Chapman said he remembers watching them in person at the state tournament.
Top scorer for the Mansfield Summit is Keanna Kelly, she not only averages 13.9 points a game, but is tops on the team with 49 3-pointers. Stylz Sanders is another good player averaging 11 points, 4.7 rebounds. Destiny Strange has 146 rebounds for the year, averaging 5.1 boards and 4.9 points per game. Amber Dixon tops the team with 89 steals, she averages 6.5 point, 3.1 assists and 3.3 rebounds a contest.
“They have a lot of players who contribute, they have a deep bench,” Chapman said. “In this one video I was watching, No. 14 (Kelly) made eight straight points, so she can score.”
Mansfield Summit won 41-27 over Jacksonville in the recent bi-district competiton..
The Lady Cats are riding the momentum of a 52-43  playoff win over Lucas Lovejoy on Tuesday.
The Lady Cats have been led this season by junior point guard Desi Debase. She averages 22.5 points, 4.9 assists and 4.7 steals a game. Senior 6-1 post/forward Destiny Wade is averaging 12.3 points and 8.8 rebounds a game. Shakoja Debase leads the team with 47 3-pointers, she averages 7.8 points and 4.2 rebounds. Kasey Moore, also a 6-1 inside player, is scoring 4.1 points a game, pulling down an average of 6.4 rebounds per game. Chrissalynd Person is contributing 2.6 points, 1.4 rebounds a game. As a team the  Lady Cats are averaging 54 points a game.
Mansfield is averaging 51 points and 12 steals a game.
Beyond the stats, facts and figures on the game, Chapman said a determining factor the outcome will be the mindset of the Lady Cats.
“We have been growing and improving during the year. I think we have played well against some really good teams,” Chapman said. “Against Mansfield Summit we must come out believing we can win. If we play well, we can contend with them.”
Chapman said, “We need all parts of our game going well. We must play good defense and come up steals, which is a big part of our game. We must stay strong inside and be aggressive.”
“When all of our girls are playing welll together we are a tough team to beat,” Chapman said. “We need Desi doing what she does with steals and handling the ball. We think she will be close to 100 percent after getting slightly injured the other night. We also need production and defense from Chrissalynd at guard, she needs to hit a few shots along with Shokaja from the outside.”
The coach continued, “Destiny played well in our last game. We want that same kind of game. We need rebounds from Kasey Moore and the other people who play inside. It’s just a matter of everybody doing what they are supposed to do.”
Chapman added, “We need one of our better games this year. This is going to be a hard game, playing against a ranked team. But we have played these games before and we are not afraid. Our defense has to stop them from driving to goal. We need to get turnovers and not let them get transition buckets. I think we will be up to the challenge.”
