The Sulphur Bluff Bears basketball team is making the first play for a postseason title in 12 years according to head coach Marshall Moore. This year the Bears have gained most of their momentum on the heals of senior varsity players: guard Zach Leatherwood, guard Cody Austin, guard, Colt Nichols, guard Ismael Gutierrez, forward Mason Littrell, and post player Robert Messick. This year's team went from a previous 4-22 mark to an outstanding 16-13 this year.
The Bears will face off with the Ector Eagles Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Prairiland for the bi-district title for Region 3 CLass 1A Division II. The winner will advance to play Avinger in the area round of the playoffs.
“I expect a good coached Ector team that scores well inside and out,” said Marshall Moore, Sulphur Bluff Bears head basketball coach.
