Playoffs set for area teams

Several area teams in the playoffs with the following squads already releasing information about postseason action.
    The North Hopkins Panthers are ranked No. 13 in the state, they have clinched first place in district with a 10-0 record, they are 23-7 overall.

    The North Hopkins girls play Friday at Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill against James Bowie. The winner will face the loser of the Celeste-Sam Rayburn game which will be played Saturday. They are tied for first in District 15A.
    They play Feb. 15 in the Whataburger Playoff Preview in Fort Worth. The first Panther playoff game will be either Feb. 20 or Feb. 21.
    Sulphur Bluff will be in the boys playoffs Feb. 18 against Fruitvale at Rains High School in Emory at 6 p.m.
    The Saltillo Lady Lions play at 4:30 p.m. today in a warm-up game against Honey Grove at Sulphur Bluff. They also have a warm-up game Monday at 6 p.m. at Tyler Junior College against Yantis.
    Saltillo has a bye to the area round which has not been determined.
    The Yantis Lady Owls went undefeated and won the district title for the second consecutive year.
    Yantis will play at UT-Tyler for a 5:30 p.m. Saturday warm-up game against Kerens. Monday the team will play Saltillo at 6 p.m. at Wagstaff Gym on the Tyler Junior College campus.
    The Lady Owls have a first round playoff bye. They will play the winner of Bellevue/Ector.
    The Miller Grove Lady Hornets are in the playoffs under head coach Gary Billingsley.
    The Lady Hornets face Karnack in the first round of the playoffs.
    The game is set Tuesday, Feb. 11 at Mount Pleasant High School at 7:30 p.m.
