The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats lost 4-0 in home soccer action against North Lamar Monday night.
“They’re, big, physical and manage the field well,” said SS girls soccer coach Joel Bailey following the loss. The visitors got a 4-0 lead in the first half and did not score in the second half thanks to several nice saves by goalkeeper Macy Hurley.
The game was delayed with 4:20 left in the second half when SS midfielder Bonnie Grafton was injured and had to be removed from the field by emergency medical personnel.
Coach Bailey said x-rays were taken and came back negative after she treated for a neck injury.
The Pantherettes scored in the first half at the 17:52 mark by Blake Scott. The visitors got two goals from Morgan Flippen, one coming on a penalty kick. The fourth goal came with 3:19 left in the first half.
In the second half scoring tries by Karlie Junot and Abby Grand-Lienard missed the mark.
In JV play,Brooke Wisnieski scored a goal from an assist by Lucy Lara for Sulphur Springs as the Lady Cats lost 2-1.
The teams play at home Saturday, hosting Greenville, JV at 11 a.m. and the varsity at 1 p.m.
