    BIRTHRIGHT — North Hopkins girls ended up tied for third with James Bowie and will have a playoff Friday at Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill with a 7:30 pm. The winner will face the loser of the Celeste-Sam Rayburn game which will be played Saturday. They are tied for first in District 15A.

    The undefeated North Hopkins boys (11-0) will clinch the District 16A championship Friday night with a win at James Bowie (0-11).     The boys game has been moved to 5:30 p.m. so North Hopkins fans can make both games. There will be no JV boys game Friday.
    North Hopkins head boys basketball coach Todd Law said the Panthers will play Feb. 15 in the Whataburger Playoff Preview in Fort Worth, the foe to be determined.
    The first North Hopkins playoff game will be either Feb. 20 or Feb. 21, probable opponent is Collinsville.

Commerce 76, Como-Pickton 46
    The Como-Pickton Eagles fell 76-46 to Commerce in recent boys varsity basketball action.
    Luke Cox had 12 points and Ozzy Preciado added 10 to pace the Como-Pickton attack.
    Commerce jumped ahead 19-7 after one period and held a 39-21 lead at intermission.
    In the junior varsity game, Commerce won 57-17. Blayke Pegues and Dakota Payton were top scorers for C-P.

C.H.E.S.S. 68, King’s Academy 43
    The C.H.E.S.S. Knights had four players in double figures topped by 19 points from Nick Gonzalez as they downed the King’s Academy, 68-43.
    Ben Holladay had 14 points, 16 rebounds and 8 assists. Austin McKim added 13, Austin South 10, Armin Gauntt 4, Mason Moore and Joel Collins 3 each, Adrian Gonzalez 2 points.
    The Knight, 22-5, will play Saturday in Terrell against the Dallas Thunder.
