MOUNT PLEASANT — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats beat Mount Pleasant 63-53 rolling to their fourth straight district basketball win.
The win gives the Wildcats a 13-11 record, 4-2 in district. Mount Pleasant drops to 3-3 in 14-4A action.

Sulphur Springs had a good night shooting the ball, especially from 3-point land. The Wildcats made 7 of 14 long range buckets. The squad made 50 percent of all field goals 25 of 50.
Cain Cody had a double-double with 18 points, including two 3-pointers with 11 boards. Isaiah Lacy popped the net for four 3-pointers and had 16 points. Darian Dial-Hall contributed 13 points. Larry Pryor added seven points. Jaylon Dugan had five with a 3-pointer and Javaron Ross scored four.
“We played well, we got the lead early,” said Jeremy Josey, Sulphur Springs head boys basketball coach. “We got going and had a good game despite all the fouls. We were in foul trouble for a while.”
Mount Pleasant made just 8 of 21 from the charity stripe. Sulphur Springs sank 6 of 10 free throws.
“We gave up too many easy layups, but overall we played well,” Josey said. “We handle adversity well. We were down five to start the second, but responded with stops and scores.”
Josey added, “I just thought we played extremely well. We did a much better job of taking care of the ball, the second time around against their pressure. We didn’t allow them as many second chance points off rebounds.”
The Wildcats continue to be on a roll stringing four district wins together for the first time in several years.
Sulphur Springs will host the Texas High Tigers Friday night at the SSHS gym.
The Tigers defeated Pine Tree, 87-32 in action Tuesday night.
In the first meeting, the Tigers won by a score of 87-63.
