The Sulphur Springs Wildcats and Lady Cats continue in soccer action today despite cold and windy conditions.

The Wildcats host Royse City today at Gerald Prim Stadium. The junior varsity game is at 5:30 p.m. followed by the varsity tilt at 7:15 p.m.
“Royse City has had it's ups and downs this year.  They sound a little like us. Playing inconsistent right now. I think it will be a good match up for us. We will need to play the entire game on Friday,” said Andy Holt, Sulphur Springs head boys soccer coach.
The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats beat Palestine 1-0 in Thursday varsity action in the Hallsville tournament.
“The Lady Cats opened up pool play at the Hallsville tournament,” said Jesus DeLeon head girls soccer coach. “The Lady Cats overcame a determined Palestine team, Grace Grafton was able to break free and work a cross in that found Myranda Pierce who one timed the ball past the Palestine goalkeeper into the back of the net. This goal was Myranda's fourth of the year making her team co-scoring leader along with Esmeralda Sanchez.”
DeLeon added, “The defense of Sha’nequa Cash, Dalia Torres, Savannah Greer and Hattie Schulz and goalkeeper Emily Hurley combined for another Lady Cat defensive shut out. The Lady Cats resume pool play on Friday vs. Marshall and Mount Pleasant.”
In JV play, Sulphur Springs won 4-0 over the John Tyler B team. Blanca Torres scored on a penalty kick. Lauren Helm had two goals, one scored off a Summer Brooks assist; Cindy Arellano’s goal was from a Torres assist. The JV  is coached by Joel Bailey.
