baseball signup
now open
    The registration for the Bright Star baseball league is open now.

    Special needs boys and girls, ages 5-18 are invited to play no cost.
    You can register online at www.ssboysbaseball.com or at Fieldhouse Sports.
    The first game is Monday, April 7 at Buford Park.

     The Sulphur Springs eighth grade Lady Cats blue team did well in recent action.
  The team lost 31-30 in  basketball competition against Texarkana.
    Kaylee Jefferson had 18 points to lead the team. Macee Collins had 5 points; Mieke van Benthem, Alyssa Abron and Kate Potts scored 2 each; Jamia Hall scored 1 point.
    In recent North Lamar eighth grade girls basketball tournament the Sulphur Springs girls took second.
    Honey Grove defeated the blue team 41-39 in the championship game despite 25 points from Jefferson.
    Other scorers were: Abron, van Benthem, 4 each; Hollins, Karlee Adams, Hall added 2 points apiece.
    Sulphur Springs opened the tournament edging Denison, 34-29. Jefferson had 23, Hollins 8, Imani Taylor 2 and Brooke Williams 1 point.
    Coach Chuck Eoff said, “The game with Denison was very physical.”
    In Game 2, the Lady Cats defeated Rains, 36-10.
    Jefferson had 14 points for top scoring honors. Other scorers were: van Benthem 7, Hollins 4, Adams 3, Taylor, Hall, Laila King and Potts scored 2 points each.
