On a night when the basketball game had to be moved due to a power outage, the Wildcats had plenty of firepower downing Hallsville by 30.
Sulphur Springs took a 61-31 win over the visiting Bobcats in a game played at the middle school gym. The Wildcats are 10-11, 1-2. Hallsville fell to 5-14, 1-2.

Games were underway at the high school gym with the freshman contest concluded, but a power failure happened during the junior varsity contest. The remainder of the JV game was cancelled and the varsity game relocated to the middle school.
Either way or location, it did not matter, Hallsville was no match for the firepower of the Wildcats.
Sulphur Springs had four players in double figures as they took the lead early and never looked back, using their speed and athletic ability to dominate the contest.
Darian Dial-Hall had 16 points, Jaylon Dugan added 14, Isaiah Lacy pumped in 13 and post player Cain Cody added 11.
Jacob Taylor had three from outside the arch to nine points  for the Bobcats.
"We needed a win like this especially in district," said Jeremy Josey, Sulphur Springs head boys basketball coach. "It was a good win for us, I was proud of the way we played. We had a plan tonight - it was to keep it simple, play good defense and score inside and we did all those things. We got to use a lot of players and that helps our confidence."
Sulphur Springs opened the game with Lacy finding Cody open for two points in the paint. Then Lacy scored off a steal to make it a 4-0 game. Sulphur Springs continued to dominate the boards and score on multiple chances. Cody scored on a nice jumper off the glass. Lacy turned a steal into a layup on the other end. The Wildcats padded the lead to 10 points, 14-4 late in the opening frame. Hallsville got buckets from Roger McCaller and Aaron Howell as the first quarter ended with Sulphur Springs' lead now sliced to 14-8.
In the second frame the Wildcats went on a 13-9 scoring run. Dugan led the way with three 3-pointers in the frame. Dial-Hall also scored and the first half ended with Sulphur Springs in command with a 27-17 lead.
The Wildcats removed any doubt about the outcome as they outscored the Bobcats 34-14 in the second half.
In the third period, nifty passing and timely rebounds led to Cody scoring in the paint and Lacy driving for a bucket. Dugan showed off his skill, opting not to can a 3-pointer, but make a move inside for a slick basket. Larry Pryor came off the pines and score on a put back in the lane. Dial-Hall connected from long distance for a triple and the Wildcats had it all working. The third period ended with Sulphur Springs pulling away with a 46-23 lead.
The Wildcats padded the lead in the first half of the final frame with Lacy scoring on a floater and Pryor pounding in points in the paint. Pryor then stepped back and popped the net for a three-pointer for some icing on the cake to make it a 57-29 game with 4:32 left. Both teams played reserves late and the Wildcats went on to claim the 30-point victory, 61-31 over the Bobcats.
"We scored well when we had to, the main thing was our defense. We used a press for a while, but we came out of it because we did not really need to use it," Josey said. "We dominated the boards and scoring without the press. We got some 3s, just because that is what we do. We work on it so much in practice that I know we can make them. We played well and this was a nice win for us."
