SSMS boys
win 50-32
    The Sulphur Springs middle school boys took a 50-32 win over Texarkana in recent basketball competition.
    Tyrese Pryor led the way with 16 points. Simeon Taylor added 13 points and was the assist leader.
    Other scorers were - Iverson Wade, Ryan Humphries with 6 each; Terrell Turman 3, Dedric Godbolt, Bryson Lynn and Dominique Berry scored 2 points apiece.
    “The team performed well as a cohesive unit,” said coach Colton Lovvorn. “Every person on the team has a role to play and they can do great things together.”

Lady Cats
practice today
    The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats begin softball practice today at 2:45 p.m. at the high school diamond.
    The Lady Cats are coming off a 22-13 season and regional quarterfinal playoff berth.
    The team will be coached by David Carrillo. Carrillo is in his 15th year as a softball coach with a 150-87 record at Sulphur Springs, 297-163 overall.
    Returning players include seniors Jaleigh Avery, Katie Sapaugh (infield), Haylee Chester (designated player), Kiara Johnson (outfield) along with Makayla Glossen, junior, infielder/outfielder and Sarah Womack, sophomore, infielder/outfielder.

Tennis team

starts season

The Sulphur Springs tennis team began their season today in Ennis in the Polar Bear Tournament.

The team will also play matches in Tyler on Jan. 23 and in the Longview Invitational on Jan. 30.

District is in Texarkana later in the season.
