Basketball opens doors all around the world for games, cultural exchanges and just plain fun.

The C.H.E.S.S. Knights boys basketball teams will play Select Academic Boys High School of Sydney, Australia tonight.
The JV game starts at 7 p.m., varsity at 8 p.m. the game will be played at Central Baptist Church at 840 Connally St.
Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for students, $10 for a family max.
State representative Dan Flynn is scheduled to be on hand to give the team a Texas state flag according to C.H.E.S.S. coach Donnie South.
“The teams are very competitive and they have been on a tour in Texas,” South said. “The JV team is 3-7. The varsity team, which features eight players, is 8-2 and recently won the Alamo City All Star Tournament in San Antonio.”
South said, “This is a neat thing for us and them. They have not seen this part of Texas. They were in Dallas and wanted another game and I know a coach, so we set it up. This is the last game in their tour of the United States.”
South said the Sydney school takes a tour every three years as they visit different countries on a cultural exchange and also play basketball.
South said, “I can’t wait, this should be a lot of fun. I am interested to see the competitive level of basketball they play. I believe they are up tempo style. This is a great opportunity for us to meet new people through basketball. I hear they are very fundamentally sound, physical and very competitive. They are similar to us, we’re looking forward to the game. I expect a close, competitive game.”
After the contests, the players, coaches and staff of the Australian team will be treated to a meal served to them in the church’s fellowship hall.
South said the visitors from down under will also be presented “goody bags” with items from the area, including the Southwest Dairy Museum.
