    Several area teams were in action recently with the following scores reported.

NH boys 48, McLeod 46
    Trenton Dodd scored 18 and Kevin Meza added 10 as the state-ranked North Hopkins Panthers defeated McLeod, 58-46.
    North Hopkins jumped out to a quick 16-8 lead and never looked back.

Karnack 20
    The Bears were growling Tuesday, taking a 30 point win over Karnack, 50-20 in varsity basketball action.
    Justin Goldsmith scored 10 points to pace the Sulphur Bluff squad.

    The Cumby Trojans were defeated 52-27 by Bland in recent hoop action.
    Noah Dyer scored 12 points for Cumby, in a losing cause.

    The Como-Pickton Eagles lost a close battle, 55-43 against Winnsboro in boys varsity district competition.
    Luke Cox popped the nets for 11 points to lead the Eagles.
    Como-Pickton stayed close in the game, but were outscored 18-10 in the final period by the Red Raiders.

Saltillo boys 57, Bloomburg 20
    Three players scored 10 points or more as Saltillo rolled to a 57-20 win over Bloomburg in recent boys basketball action.
    Cade Daniel had 12 points for the Lions, Carlos Marquez 11 and James Stretcher 10 in the win.
    “I thought our defense set the tone for this game,” said Bill Giles, Saltillo head boys basketball coach.”Offensively, especially in the first quarter  we missed a lot of easy shots. However, at least we ran our man offense well and rebounded well on offense.”

    Kendall Bain blistered the nets for 25 points as the Lady Lions clawed Bloomburg 67-23 in district varsity basketball action.
    Haylee Clover added 16 points for Saltillo in the rout.

Miller Grove
teams split
    MILLER GROVE — The Hornets and Lady Hornets split with Campbell in Tuesday basketball action.    
    Alma Del Castillo had 21 points to lead the Lady Hornets in a losing cause as they fell 50-32 to Campbell.
    The Hornets won 68-38 over Campbell with Patrick Covington scoring 22 points for the Hornets. Teammate Logan Miller added 15 and Nathan George had 10.
