LONGVIEW — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats got hot late, winning 60-50 over Spring Hill in recent non-district boys basketball action.
Sulphur Springs exploded in the overtime period to outscored the Panthers 18-8 in the four-minute extra stanza.

Darian Dial-Hall has 17 points and Javaron Ross added 16 in the game as the Wildcats went to 9-8 for the season.
Nick Irwin led Spring Hill with 16 and Luke Shepperd as 12.
Cain Cody and Isaiah Lacy, players who usually average in double figures, both fouled out in the fourth period after getting in foul trouble early.
“We had a good finish, but we did  not start well. We only scored 16 points in the first half,” said Jeremy Josey, Sulphur Springs head boys basketball coach. “In the first half we came out no energy or focus. We had trouble with their matchup zone. Then in the second half we refocused and decided to get after it.”
Josey continued, “We really came on the fourth period and then in overtime.”
The game was tied at 42-all forcing the extra period.
“We overcame adversity,” Josey said. “We had to go to our bench because of foul trouble. All I want to players off the bench is something positive, some defense or scoring and it all worked. We started playing together and with more energy and we in game. It sounds simple, but that was our key to victory, playing with energy.”
Josey said, “Everything well into place. We got some defensive stops. We started getting transition buckets. We scored 18 points in the four-minute overtime period after having 16 points in the first 16 minutes of the game. That’s the way this team goes, we can play well when we are focused.”
The Wildcats close out non-district play with Tyler All Saints (21-2). The teams play Friday with two games set to begin at 5 p.m., varsity at 6:30 p.m.
