Cumby girls
blast Boles
    QUINLAN — The visiting Lady Trojans took a 62-45 win over Boles in recent district girls basketball competition.

    Candice Horrocks led the way for Cumby with 17 points. Other scorers were: Alex Duck 13, Madison Thomas 10, Mackenzie Fyke 9, Kaylee Giles 8 and Ashley Purser 5.
    Cumby is 6-8 for the season, 1-3 in district according to coach Russell Coleman.

    QUINLAN — The Cumby Trojans got off to a slow start, losing to Boles, 66-36 in recent boys varsity basketball play.
    Travis Taylor had 19 points for top scoring honors for Cumby. Other scorers were: Noah Dyer 10, Eric Wilson, Ryan Coleman, Dakota Herrman, 2 each.
    The Trojans fell behind 14-6 early and then were outscored 23-2 in the second period.
    Cumby played better in the second half, but could not overcome the large deficit.
    The Trojans play Friday, Dec. 28 at Detroit. The junior varsity game is at 3 p.m., varsity at 4 p.m. Cumby is coached by Edmond Taylor.

Lady Cats,
Wildcats play
in tournaments
    Sulphur Springs teams are in tournament action this week.
    The Lady Cats (12-1) will be in the Kaufman Tournament. They open play Friday at 11:30 a.m. against the Jacksonville Maidens.
    The Wildcats, 6-6, will play Flower Mound at noon Friday in the first round of the Bridgeport Christmas tournament.
    Flower Mound of Lewisville is a 5A team with a 13-4 record  this season.
