WILLS POINT — The Sulphur Springs Wildcats scored their first tournament win at the Wills Point Tournament, taking a 74-40 decision over Quitman Friday.
The Wildcats had nine players score led by 17 from Jaylon Dugan and Cain Cody. Larry Pryor was also in double figures with 10 points.

“We needed a win after losing two on Thursday,” said Jeremy Josey, Sulphur Springs head boys basketball coach. “We came out and played well with a lot of confidence. It’s a win which good for the team, all the players got play and most scored.”
“Dugan played well, I think he is finding his shot,” Josey said. “We had a good second half. Our defense was very aggressive and our offensive scoring came off that. That’s what we do well, scoring in transition.”
Josey said, “We had good focus against Quitman. We need to keep that for the other games. We’ve got to hear to play hard and get after it on defense. We have an upbeat group of guys and they play well when they are having fun and being aggressive on defense.”
In junior varsity action, Sulphur Springs lost 41-33 to Wills Point in double overtime.
Scorers were: Dylan Rogers 9, Willie Black 7, Azar Myles 6, Heston Golightly 5, Jaylon Hawkins 4, Tyrese Peters 2.
