Wildcats lose in tourney play

    WILLS POINT — It’s not a good sign when your shooting is colder than the weather.
    Sulphur Springs lost twice in the Wills Point Tournament.


    “I know those shots will fall. We are missing close in shots. But right now they are not dropping,” said Jeremy Josey, Sulphur Springs head boys basketball coach. “We have good effort, we’re playing hard.”
    Sulphur Springs lost 75-51 to Edgewood in an early morning contest Thursday. Cain Cody had 12 while Jaylon Dugan  and Isaiah Lacy scored 10 apiece
    The second game was better, but still a tough loss. Sulphur Springs fell 53-48 to Royse City.
    The Wildcats had a bright spot, scoring 22 points in the final quarter.
    Dugan had 15 for top scoring honors.
    The Wildcats play today at 4 p.m. against a foe to be determined.
    In junior varsity action, Sulphur Springs lost 40-31.
    Garrett Jones and Matthew Malone had 8 each; Keylon Hall 7, Derrick Weeks 4, Tyler Follis 3 and Ale Rosales 2.
    The Sulphur Springs freshmen lost 70-38 to Terrell.
    Sulphur Springs scorers were: Azar Myles 19, Michael Arnold 6, Jackson Kinsey 6, Tyrese Peters 4, Willie Black 2, Heston Golightly 1.
