    Teams in the area were in recent basketball action with the following scores reported.

North Hopkins 59, Yantis 57
    YANTIS — Four Panthers scored in double figures as the visiting North Hopkins boys took a 59-57 win over the Owls Tuesday night.
    Silas Whaley hit for 16 points to lead North Hopkins. Jessie Williams added 13, Tarence Berry 12 and Kevin Meza 11 points.
    Logan Glenn had 18 for the Owls.
    North Hopkins took an early 25-16 lead and eased by the Owls.
    “I give a great deal of credit to Yantis.  We tried to press and run and make it into a full court game.  They hung with us playing that style in the first half,” said Todd Law, North Hopkins head boys basketball coach. “Yantis limited their turnovers and hit six threes in the first half.  Then they controlled the pace in the second half and took us out of our game. We were very fortunate to win.”
    North Hopkins is 8-3 with the win and will play Thursday vs. Cooper at 1:30 p.m. in the Freeman Parish Tournament at North Hopkins.

Wolfe City 57 OT
    SALTILLO —     The Lions made 10 of 11 free throws in overtime to claim a 65-57 win over Wolfe City Tuesday in varsity basketball action.
    Carlos Marquez had 16 points for top scoring honors for the Lions. Cade Daniel added 13, Tucker Johnson and Edward Jaime scored a dozen each.
    Saltillo made 23 of 29 free shots on the game. Wolfe City was just 9 of 26 from the charity stripe.
    “Wolfe City is well-coached. They played excellent man-to-man defense. Our guys played hard and didn’t give up,” said Bill Giles, Lions head basketball coach. “We didn’t have a lead until the fourth quarter with two minutes left in the game. Our free throw shooting allowed us to stay in the game and eventually win it.”

    CUMBY —Noah Dyer pumped in 18 points, including three 3-pointers to lead Cumby to a 62-58 home win Tuesday night against James Bowie Pirates.
    “Dyer set the tone of the game for Cumby by hitting three point shots and was aggressive taking the ball to the rim,” said Cumby varsity coach Edmond Taylor. “Sophomore point guard Travis Taylor had 16 points and controlled the flow for the Trojans. Junior forward Cody Anderson had 12 points and hit some clutch free throws in the crunch to lead the Trojans victory. Senior guard Dustin Heer played well adding  7 points. Junior forward Tristan White came off the bench to give Cumby a spark and Senior post Tyler McCrary played big and rebounded well for the Trojans. ”

Como-Pickton 40, Detroit 36
    Ozzy Preciado was a wizard, scoring 18 points to pace Como-Pickton to a 40-36 win over Detroit in recent boys varsity basketball action.
    Other scorers for the Eagles were Malik Gray with 10, Luke Cox adding 8 and Brayon Ramos 4.
    C-P won the junior varsity game.

Sulphur Bluff 60, Dodd City 41
    The Bears protected their home court, taking a 60-41 win Tuesday after Dodd City.
    Justin Goldsmith had 13 points, Jaden Goldsmith added 12 and Landon Dorner tossed in 11 with Tyler Raine contributing 10 points. Cody Tople and Dakota Emerson scored 5 each and Erin Zeringue added 4 points.
