Wildcats set school football records

Another football season has passed for the Sulphur Springs Wildcats, and with it, a lot more school records have fallen.

The main toppler of school records was senior running back Willy Ivery, who had already etched his name as a sophomore and junior. He cemented it this season.
Ivery finished his senior season with 192 carries for 1,673 yards. While those are not records (the 1,673 yards is fourth-best), he is second in rushing TDs with 26 and combined rushing/receiving TDs with 31.
For his career, Ivery finished with 284 carries for 2,653 yards. The total yardage places him third on the list, while his per-carry average of 9.3 yards is a school record. He also has the career rushing TD mark of 49 and the career combined touchdown total with 74.
Moreover, Ivery set the school’s single game touchdown mark of six rushing and seven total in the Wildcats’ win over Mount Pleasant.
As a receiver, Ivery finished with 121 catches for 1,977 yards, both of which place him second-all time, with 24 touchdowns (third all-time).
Junior quarterback Larry Pryor also put his name in the list of all-time performances by throwing for 441 yards and five touchdowns against Hallsville. The yardage total is second all-time in a single game, and the five TDs puts him a tie for second place. He also threw for five touchdowns against Pine Tree.
Overall, Pryor finished with 2,666 yard passing and 26 touchdowns, which are both fourth-best.
Receiving-wise, senior Isaiah Lacy caught three touchdowns against Pine Tree, which tied him for second-best. Among those with three TDs receiving in a single game are teammates Ivery and Alex Burney.
As a team, the Wildcats set a school record with 77 points scored against Corsicana, and their average of 42.8 points per game is second all-time behind last year’s average of 46.8.
Below is a list of the top three performances in school history and a look at where this year’s players ended up.
