The Sulphur Springs defense gave up yardage and 42 points, but also made several key stands in the bi-district playoff win over Denison.
As a team, the Wildcats had 78 tackles, four tackles for losses, one sack and two interceptions.

Linebacker Derick Ingram led the tackle chart with 11 for the game, with two tackles for losses.
Dedric Smith at linebacker and defensive back Zach Spigner had nine tackles each. Carson Hicks had eight tackles. Turning in six tackles each were Melroy Givens and Bryton Wood.
Jaylon Dugan, Barry Stribling and Garret Hood turned in five tackles each. Hood had the only sack in the game. Dallas Dannheim had four tackles, one for a loss and Dekeistan Mosley had three tackles, one for a loss.
Givens and DeAndre Wright picked off passes.
“I thought we played well Friday. We had some mental mistakes that led to busts, but overall I was pleased with the  effort of the defense,” said Triston Abron, Sulphur Springs defensive coordinator.
The Wildcats now face Whitehouse for the second time this year. The teams collide for the Class 4A, Div. II area title Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Forney.
Abron added, “Our plans for Whitehouse are, limit the big plays. Mahomes (Patrick Mahomes, Whitehouse quarterback) is a handful by himself, and then throw in the other 10 guys it turns into the wow effect. They are explosive and well- coached. We just have to play for 48 minutes and then see what happens.”
