Hoop roundup - CHESS wins, SS games set

     Several basketball teams were in recent action with games scheduled this week, some have been altered due to football playoff schedules.

C.H.E.S.S. takes
first place
    In Campbell, the C.H.E.S.S. Kinghts won 60-45 over Slidell to win the boys division of basketball tournament action.
    Austin South had 21 points, 14 coming in the second period. During the second frame C.H.E.S.S. went on a 23-5 scoring run to build a big lead they would not reliquish.
    In the big win, Austin Mckim added 19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists; Ben Hollday had 9 points and pulled down 18 rebounds.
    Mckim was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Gonzalez and South were all tournament selection.

Lady Cats,
Wildcats in action
    In recent action, the Sulphur Springs Lady Cats won 55-29 at Clarksville.
    The Lady Cats, 2-0, are scheduled to meet Lindale at home Tuesday. Action begins at 4:30 p.m. with the freshmen, JV to follow at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.
    The Wildcats JV and freshmen play Tuesday against Avery at Sulphur Bluff starting at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
    The Wildcats host Whitewright Saturday. The JV game is at 11 a.m. and varsity at 12:15 p.m.
