From Staff Reports

GRAND SALINE —Miller Grove’s dream of advancing to the regional volleyball tournament was ended here Tuesday.
The Lady Cats were defeated  in four set, 12-25, 25-22, 12-25, 22-25 by Big Sandy.

The regional quarterfinal UIL Class A game was played at Grand Saline High School.
Big Sandy will not advance to the regional tournament in Longview.
For seniors Alma Del Castillo, Kaylan Bounds, Shelbi Potts, and Brandie McLane it was their last game in a Miller Grove uniform.
“Big Sandy is a good team.  Their two big girls do a good job at the net,” said Gary Billingsley, Miller Grove head coach. “We just did not pass the ball well tonight and against a team that has two good hitters you cant continuously give them free opportunities.”
Billingsley continued, “Bailey Penny (sophomore) played her best game of the year at the net.  We have been waiting for her to come out and be dominant.  I am proud of all the girls for the effort they gave.  This team has nothing to be ashamed of, they won a school record 28 games, the first outright district championship in school history, and won a tournament this year.”
The coach added, “The seniors Alma Del Castillo, Kaylan Bounds, Shelbi Potts, and Brandie McLane will be missed.  We ended the season 28-6.”
