Sulphur Springs basketball teams were productive in recent scrimmages.

The Wildcats were on the road at Greenville in a dual basketball scrimmage Saturday.
Sulphur Springs took on teams from Greenville and Mesquite Poteet, playing four halves of basketball total, coming up short on the scoreboard.
“I know we where a little shell- shocked with the first segment vs Greenville. Their size hurt us as well as their overall athleticism. After that we settled down and continually improved each half,” said Jeremy Josey, Sulphur Springs head boys basketball coach.
The coach mentioned Darian Dial-Hall, Trenton Brock, Garrett Jones, Alejandro Rosales, Mason Buck, Matt Malone and Zach Haywood as standouts.
“Darian really played well and continued to stop that he is a returning varsity player with experience,” Josey said. “The others mentioned all did an excellent job showing improvement from our last scrimmage and adjusting to the overall speed of varsity play.”
Josey said, “We got better and showed progress. We competed with two 4A varsity playoff programs and held our own. Our ninth grade also did a great job playing at the JV level. We won several sessions against ninth and JV level competition.”
The next action for the boys is Nov. 22 against Whitewright.
The Lady Cats had a home scrimmage Friday as they took on Rains.
Sulphur Springs came out with a 58-46 win thanks to 35 points from Desi Debase and 17 by Shakoja Debase.
Desi Debase also had 12 steals, 16 deflections and 4 rebounds, 4 assists. She made 14 of 21 shots and connected on 2 of 3 from 3-point land, making 5 of 6 from the free throw stripe.
Shakoja Debase made 7 of 19 shots from 2-point territory. She made 2 of 10 from long distance. From the free throw line she was of 1 of 4 for 17 total points. She had 2 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 deflections.
Destiny Wade had 4 points and 4 rebounds, adding 3 steals, 1 deflection and 1 block. Daieyshia Pruitt scored 2 points.  Kasey Moore had 2 rebounds, 2 steals and a block.
