They turned out to be as tough as any opponent. And when Miller Grove got over their nerves they were able to down Roxton and win the area title in the Class 1A volleyball playoffs.

Miller Grove and Roxton clashed Friday night at Sulphur Bluff in the playoffs with Miller Grove winning 3-1. The Hornets lost the opening set 23-25, but settled down and came back to win the match taking the final three sets 25-15, 25-17, 26-24.
“I had a feeling going in that the nerves might get to us early and they did,” said Gary Billingsley, Miller Grove volleyball coach. “We committed too many unforced errors in the first set which led to us loosing it. After that the girls settled down and were able to play better. I thought each girl contributed something last night.”
The coach continued, “Eden Godwin was able to shake off the jitters and set the ball well, Alma Del Castillo did a good job of playing on the back row, Bailey Penny passed very well and was a factor at the net, Kaylan Bounds  played her best game for us passing and hitting, Brandie McLane came up with some timely kills to go along with her good setting, and Shelbi Potts was very consistent with her hitting and was able to find holes in their defense through out the night.  This was a great team win.”
The  Hornets, 28-5,  play the winner of Big Sandy and Blue Ridge in regional quarterfinal game to be announced.
