Something has to give on Friday.
Winless teams, Como-Pickton and Rivercrest collide Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Bogata in a district football matchup.
Como-Pickton is coming off a 55-6 loss at home to Clarksville. In that game the Eagles got their first points of the year in the form of a Blake Neal touchdown run.
C-P head coach Conley Bland talked about the season.
“Deion McGill, a senior has done a great job at offensive tackle, even though he realizes this is a rebuilding year,” Bland. “Carlos Villasenor, a sophomore, has improved a lot at offensive guard. Neal, a junior, plays hard every game on offense and defense, with a positive attitude. Blayke Pegues, a sophomore, has given great effort on defense and Dakota Payton, a freshman, is becoming a very good lineman on offense and defense.”
Both teams are 0-8 for the year and 0-4 in district. Rivercrest is favored by 17 points.
Rivercrest had been outscored 369-52 for the season, 205-6 in district.
Como-Pickton is also 0-8, opponents have scored 486 points to 6 by the Eagles.
Bland added, “Rivercrest has had a tough year, similar to us and I am sure they are expecting to play well. It should be a very evenly-matched game.”
The Rebels beat the Eagles 47-21 last year.
