Lady Cats blanked by Hallsville

    The Hallsville Lady Bobcats won 25-17, 25-19, 25-15 to sweep a district volleyball match over Sulphur Springs and clinch the 14-4A title Friday night.
    The win advanced the Hallsville record to a perfect 9-0 in district, 28-9 overall.  

    Despite the loss, Sulphur Springs at 2-7 in 14-4A action, could get a varsity playoff berth with a win Tuesday in Mount Pleasant according to coaches.
    The match against Hallsville was played at Sulphur Springs High School and was the last home action for eight seniors.
    The first game was a see-saw affair with the score tied three times in the early going. Then Erin McCallum got hot for the visitors serving as the Lady Bobcats went on a 9-0 run. Hallsville won by a 25-17 score.
    The second game was also very competitive with Destiny Wade and Desi Debase turning in forceful kills. Jessye Castro added two blocks at the net, but it was not enough against the agile Lady Bobcats. Hallsville won game two, 25-19.
    In the third set, Wade and Sarah Womack had kills while Johnson and Castro turned in blocks. The game went to Hallsville, 25-15.
    In JV action, Sulphur Springs lost 15-25, 20-25. The Lady Cat freshmen fell to Hallsville, 18-25, 12-25.
