The North Hopkins girls softball team took an 8-7 softball win Tuesday in action against Lone Oak.
Liz Shaw had two hits for the winners with Crissy Hall knocked in three runs with a double, Courtney Loper and Grace Cox each had one hit and two runs scored while P.K. Harlton had one hit each and Chastin Smiddy had one hit and one run scored.
Pitchers for North Hopkins included Smiddy with five innings on the mound allowing four runs off six hits and four walks. Jessica Harry came in as a relief pitcher giving up three runs off three hits, one walk and one strikeout.
North Hopkins got key defensive plays from Loper and Hall according to coach Jim Westbrook.
“Both pitchers played well, our whole infield played great, “ Westbrook said.
Losing pitcher for Lone Oak was Chelsea Hayden. Hayden pitched a complete game allowing eight runs off eight hits, five walks while striking out three.
Top hitter for Lone Oak was Ashten Hale who was two-for-four with one run scored.
