Pads were popping under the bright sunshine and it was back to business as usual for Sulphur Springs at practice Tuesday afternoon.
Monday’s after school workout was more of a learning exercise as the game plan was installed for Hallsville this week.
The cool, breezy conditions Monday were pleasant and almost chilly. They gave way to temperatures near 80 under clear and sunny skies.
The Wildcats usually have one of the early workouts during the week in the indoor facility. That was not the case this time.
Sulphur Springs is dedicated to the task this week of jumping back into the win column.
The loss at Texarkana shook the team with the 43-7 score.
Sulphur Springs came into the game averaging 61 points per game during a three-game win streak. The Wildcats were still dreaming of another undefeated district title. That all changed with the 43-7 loss to Texas High.
Sulphur Springs is a four-point favorite Friday night as they host Hallsville for a 7:30 p.m. contest in Gerald Prim Stadium.
Hallsville has a 5-2 record overall. The Bobcats are 2-0, tied with Texas High for the leadership in 14-4A.
Sulphur Springs is 4-3, 1-1. The loss to the Tigers dropped the Wildcats into a second place tie with Marshall 1-1 records. Mount Pleasant and Pine Tree are 0-2.
