TYLER — The Sulphur Springs tennis team recently competed in the area tournament.
The squad lost 10-0 to McKinney North, but making the tournament was a positive end to a successful fall season according to tennis coach Randy Namanny.
“This is the first time in nine years that Sulphur Springs has been to post district play. Before that it was 13 years,” said Namanny. “This season was a turning point in history for the tennis program here in Sulphur Springs. These kids have worked so hard for the team victories that have achieved. They finished third in district which I know has not happened in at least three years and they made it to the area tournament.”
Namanny added, “Although we faced a tough opponent McKinney North, the players gave it every thing they had. It was a well-fought match that seemed closer that what the score showed. I am very proud of every thing they accomplished this year.
