Sulphur Springs speedy running back Willy Ivery was named the Week 6 Built Ford Tough Texas High School Player of the Week for Class 4A.
Ivery had 314 all-purpose yards and scored seven touchdowns in Sulphur Springs’ 63-28 rout over Mount Pleasant Friday, Oct. 11 at Gerald Prim Stadium.
“It has been amazing watching Willy develop into a mature young man and athlete,” says Wildcats head coach Greg Owens. “It is a great honor to be recognized as being the best anytime, but especially when you are the best in all of 4A in the State of Texas. Willy has great talent and had a great game along with his teammates last Friday night. We have some big team goals and are going to rely on everyone to help
get them accomplished.He is a great role model for the community.”

Class 5A — Marc Lozoya, Sr., wide receiver, Laredo Alexander.
Class 3A — Blake Bogenschutz, Sr. quarterback, Carthage.
Class 2A — Will Smith, junior, quarterback, Hempstead.
Class 1A — Austin Aguirre, sophomore, WR/DB, Normangee.
Private schools: Timmy Ware, sophomore, quarterback, Houston St. Pius X.
Ivery won the Ford award of the Class 4A for Week 9 in 2012 for 247 yards rushing and four touchdowns vs. Pine Tree.
