Saltillo boys
first in C-C
  The Saltillo varsity boys took first in the recent Paul Pewitt Cross Country meet.


    Individual results; 3. Dakota Carrol, 18:34; 4. Keagan Genzer, 18;50; 6. James Stretcher, 19:26; 9. Carlos Marquez, 19:46; 12. Lane Bench, 20:34; 19. Cade Daniel, 21:01.
    Saltillo’s junior varsity results include: 13. John VanHolten, 25:07; 17. Tommy Moore, 26:29; 18. Elias Garcia, 26:33; 22. Edward Jaime, 29:05.
    The junior high team took third. Individual results include; 6. Lyle Bench, 13:28; 10. Walker McGill, 14:26; 23. Jabe Humphries, 15:30; 24. Branson McGill, 15:31; 40. Mathew Gurely, 17:21; 46. Dylan Beadle, 18:31; 48. Antonio Tovar, 18;47; 50. Thomas McCarty, 21:42; 51. Mike McCarty, 21:50.
    The team will compete Oct. 17 in Avery. 

Yantis girls
drop matches
    The Yantis Lady Owls lost recent to Miller Grove by scores of 26-24, 18-25, 5-25, 15-25.
    Standouts for Yantis were: Lila Hurley -18 digs, 1 point off free ball; Angelica Sandoval - 2 aces, 3 kills, 10 digs, 1 block, 3 points off free ball;
Josey Wetzel - 1 ace, 2 kills, 1 tip, 1 tip, 4 digs, 3 blocks; Ashley Bagwell - 1 ace, 5 kills, 6 digs, 2 points off free ball; Molly Bell - 3 aces, 2 kills, 3 tips, 3 digs, 6 blocks:
Destiny Garces -1 ace, 3 digs, 9 assists; Vanessa Stone - 2 digs and Amber Bagwell-  2 assists.
    Yantis lost to Fruitvale in Friday action 25-20, 15-25, 20-25, 5-25.
    Leaders were: Hurley- 2 aces, 10 digs; Sandoval- 2 aces, 1 kill, 2 tips, 6 digs, 1 block, 2 points off free ball;
Wetzel- 2 aces, 1 kill, 1 tip, 3 digs, 1 block; Bagwell- 1 ace, 10 digs; Bell- 6 serves, 5 kills, 2 tips, 5 blocks; Garces - 3 aces, 1 tip, 9 assists.
    Yantis hosts North Hopkins   Tuesday starting at 6 p.m.

takes second
place at race
    The Miller Grove boys were second in recent cross country action at Paul Pewitt.
    Results for the Hornets include; 2. Nathan George, 16:47; 7. Logan Miller, 18:16; 13. William Clinton, 19:08; 19. Brennan Green, 19:55; 22. Trey Lester, 20:22; 24. Aaron Smith, 20:31; 32. Derek McCreight, 21:54.

MG girls
fall to Boles
    In recent district volleyball action, Boles took a match over Miller Grove 22-25, 23-25, 25-10, 25-19, 13-15.
    Standouts for Miller Grove were: Shelbi Potts, 15 kills; Brandie McLane, 18 assists, 5 kills; Bailey Penny, 8 kills and Eden Godwin, 6 assists.
    The Lady Hornets, 24-4, 6-1,  play at Fruitvale Tuesday at 6 p.m.
