Former Sulphur Springs standouts did well in recent college football games.
Mason Y’Barbo, a 6-2, 307-pound junior offensive lineman lived a lineman’s dream for the University of North Texas. Y’Barbo recovered a fumble for a touchdown during the third quarter. At the time, the score tied the game at 7-all. North Texas lost 24-21 at Tulane.
Teammate and another former Wildcat Blake Macek is the UNT punter. He is a redshirt freshmen averaging 41.8 yards per punt.
Jace Jackson, former Wildcat receiver, caught four passes for 53 yards and two touchdowns as West Texas A&M won 72-0 over Central State. Former Wildcat defensive standout Johnny McSheffery had three tackles.
Former Wildcats quarterback Tyrik Rollison completed 17-for-27 passes for 323 yards, one touchdown in a 31-29 win by Texas A&M-Commerce over Southeastern Oklahoma.
