SS runners fourth at Lindale

LINDALE — The Sulphur Springs boys and girls cross country teams took fourth places Friday in the Lindale Meet.

    Times for Sulphur Springs varsity girls runners include: 9. Madeline Massey, 21:23; 10. Madison Ramirez, 21:58; 24. Myranda Pierce, 23:13; 35. Star Resendiz, 24:01; 40. Caitlyn Helm, 24:34; 41. Kezli Cook, 24:34;
The junior varsity took third, times were: 1. Grace Grafton, 24:16; 10. Payton Pierce, 26:08; 15. Emily Sosa, 26:30; 17. Jessica Santana, 26:57; 32. Brenna Murray, 29:19; 36. Caroline Berning, 29:36; 62. Ana Miranda, 32:29.
    Boys varsity times, places: 13. Nathan Mabry, 18:13; 17. Jacob Gatewood, 18:21; 24. Tanner Ramirez, 18:44; Carter White, 18:58; 38. Will Fain, 19:31; 66. Andrew Allen, 20:50. Junior varsity, sixth place, include: 19. Tony Velasquez, 20:37; 20. Cesar Andino, 20:39; 22. Fernando Ortiz, 20:42; 63. Nathan Brice, 22:17; 94. Dylan Scott, 23:27; 133. Hunter Blanchard, 25:03; 141. Shea Robinson, 25:20.
    “The boys were edged out by Mount Pleasant by a point for third place.  Mount Pleasant will be our competition at the district meet for the third spot,” said Andrew Holt, Sulphur Springs head cross country coach. “Mabry led the way for the boys. He has had a very good season for us and again stepped up to the challenge on Friday.  He placed 13th overall.  Gatewood wasn’t far behind. “
    Holt said, “The girls also ran well on Friday. Massey and Ramirez finished ninth and 10th respectively.  They are doing a good job of working together. The JV girls finished third and were led by Grace Grafton.  Grafton finished first overall and did so by a long margin.  She is getting better and will be fighting for a varsity spot when the district race comes around.”
