COOPER — The Como-Pickton Eagles suffered their first district loss of the season as they fell from the skies in a 75-0 loss to the No. 3 ranked undefeated Cooper Bulldogs.

Highlighting for the Bulldogs in their third straight shutout was senior Jermey Mims as he has eight carries for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Mims also had a 50-yard punt return for a score, a two point conversion and he opened the second half with an 87-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Como-Pickton netted a total of 77 offensive yards with Zack Robinson rushing for 42 yards in 19 carries and Cole Mitchell, who had 11 carries for 37 yards. Eagle quarterback Cody Fite completed two of five passes for 25 yards. Cooper chalked up 323 total yards of offense on the night.
The Eagles struggled against the expanded roster of the hosting Bulldogs giving up 47 points by the halftime mark by the able hands of leading rusher Mims with a 12-yard and 14-yard run, Darmarcus Robinson with a 19- and 49-yarders and Mims’ punt return, Hadley Worden caught a 22-yard pass from quarterback Kasey Leatherwood, one and only pass on the night, and as the first half clock ticked away Bulldog Brandan Chandler stripped the ball from Christian Hill and ran 39-yards for a touchdown. Until that point, Hill had the second-most first half success as he caught a Fite pass for 14-yard gain and the first down, next to Robinson.
The Bulldogs held their momentum with Mims’ scoring kickoff return, bumping their lead over 50 points. The Eagles alternated ball carriers – Mitchell and Robinson – obtaining the majority of their eight first downs.
However the Bulldog defense continued to wear down the Eagles causing a trio of fumbles, two lost in the second half. Following a punt, Ira Franklin found running room for a third quarter score on a 51-yard run.
The fourth quarter commenced with the clock running. With just over nine minutes remaining sophomore Emilio Zapata, moved up from the junior varsity, scooped up a fumble and returned it 88-yards for the Bulldog touchdown. Fellow classmate and teammate Walker Richey dashed across the goal line from the 1-yard line. Cooper completed seven of their 11 point after kicks with booting by Clay Ingram, Jordan Sillivan and Colby Earley.
Prior to kickoff 2013 Cooper High School announced their newest homecoming royalty – King Ty Oliver and Queen Josie Preas.
Others in District 8-2A, Div. II: Alba-Golden beat Chisum 51-29 and Edgewood over Rivercrest 62-6. Clarksville was open.
Still looking for their first win, the Como-Pickton Eagles will host the Alba-Golden Panthers who are 2-0 in district and 4-2 overall. Cooper will have an open week. Rivercrest will host Clarksville and Edgewood will travel to Chisum.
