BULLARD — The only Sulphur Springs football team in action Thursday scored an impressive win.
Quarterback Ryan Humphries threw for four touchdown passes as the Sulphur Springs eighth grade A team took a 40-31 win over Lufkin in action played in Bullard.
Humphries paced the passing game with 10 completions from 14 attempts for 253 yards, four scores and one interception.
Simeon Taylor had three catches for 100 yards, including touchdown receptions of 27 and 46. Tiesan Goodson had two catches for 114 yards, he caught an 80-yard scoring bomb. Tyrese Pryor snagged three passes for 50 yards, including a 35-yard touchdown reception; D.J. Abron and Dedric Godbolt, each had one catch for six yards.
Jaxon Reneau had eight carries for 45 yards in the running game. Humphries ran six times for 57 yards, with a nine-yard scoring run. Taylor had two carries for eight yards and Lawrence Worth had two attempts for six yards.
Taylor was 1-for-1 and had 34-yards passing.
Coach Jeremy Scroggins said, “The SSMS A team traveled to Bullard to take on the 5A Lufkin Panthers. Sulphur Springs brought home a victory. Our kids played a great game and it was exciting to watch them get after it and make plays.”
