Cumby girls
sweep Boles
in district
volleyball
    QUINLAN —The Cumby varsity girls won recent volleyball action 14-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-17 over Boles.


    Standouts for Cumby were:
Candice Horrocks - 15 points, 2 aces, 3 kills, 8 assists; Alex Duck - 12 points, 3 blocks, 7 kills, 1 assist, 1 dig; Grace Campbell - 9 points, 2 kills, 1 block, 2 assists, 4 digs; Madison Thomas - 7 points, 1 kill, 4 digs; Demi McDonald -  4 points, 8 assists, 1 kill; Kaylee Giles  3 points, 6 kills, 2 blocks, 1 dig; Viviana Ugalde - 1 kill, 4 digs; Ashley Purser- 8 digs.
    The Cumby junior varsity won 25-11, 25-22.
    Standouts were: Julia Goncalves - 13 points, 1 ace, 4 assists; Bailey Braddock - 8 points, 1 ace; Victoria Valentine - 4 points, 1 ace, 1 kill; Jacey Weatherbee - 3 points, 4 kills, 2 blocks; Alysse Bullock - 3 points; Mackenzie Fyke - 2 points, 1 ace, 1 kill, 1 dig; Brittney Basham - 2 digs.
    The Cumby varsity overall record:  11-17,   district record: 3-0.
    The Lady Trojans play at Tuesday at Miller Grove.  JV starts at 5 p.m., followed by varsity.

    The varsity boys did well in the recent Miller Grove cross country event.
    For the varsity places - fifth, Keagon Genzer; seventh, Dakota Carroll; 14th, James Stretcher; 39th, Carlos Marquez; 56th, Tucker Johnson; 57th, Cade Daniel.
    For the junior varsity, Hunter Wilson was second.
    Saltillo coach Bill Giles said, "The top three runners ran pretty well, our last three not so well.  If we are going to reach our goal of finishing in the top three teams at regionals, we have to run better."
