Lady Cats
open district
at Pine Tree
    Sulphur Springs will begin district volleyball action on the road today against Pine Tree.

    The Lady Cats are 13-14 overall entering district. Pine Tree has a 17-11 record.
    The action starts at 4:30 p.m. three games are slated.
    “I really anticipate the girls doing well in district this season and see us surprising some teams with how much we have improved,” said Michelle Namanny, Lady Cats head volleyball coach. “My goal is to finish in the top three, but top four make it into playoffs, so we definitely have high standards set for ourselves.  I am so proud of this group of young ladies and cannot wait to see what they continue to accomplish this season.”

Cumby plays
at Trenton
    The Cumby Trojans will be looking for a win today at Trenton in a football clash set for 7:30 p.m.
    Cumby and Trenton are both winless at 0-4 for the year, so one of the teams will break into the win column.
    Cumby is favored in the game by 19 points.
    Trojans head coach Tom Dracos said his team has been working hard toward the game and feels his team is ready for the challenge.
    Dracos is hoping for his first win as Cumby head coach.

Fall basketball
league games
    East Texas Hoop fall leagues at Winnsboro have one more Saturday to play.
    Games are set in Winnsboro, Saturday Sept. 28.
    They are accepting 5/6 boys and girls, 7/8 boys and girls, JV girls and varsity girls.
