Lady Cats down WP, 3-1

WILLS POINT — The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats closed out their non-district volleyball schedule with a 3-1 win over Wills Point.
    The Lady Cats won by scores of 25-17, 21-25, 25-20, 25-23 Tuesday.

    “I was so pleased with our performance on the court last night.  Things are finally coming together,” said Michelle Namanny, Sulphur Springs head volleyball coach. “We played very aggressive, relentless defense and were strong hitters at the net.  I think it was a very competitive match for us going into district play on Friday night against Pine Tree.”
    Standouts for the Lady Cats include: Katie Barnett, 18 assists, 3 digs; Shakoja Debase, 8 assists, 2 digs, 1 ace; Jacey Mitchell, 6 assists, 3 digs; Kiara Johnson and Sarah Womack, 5 kills, 1 solo block each; Jessye Castro, 7 kills 3 blocks; Destiny Wade, 7 kills, 1 block, 4 aces; Chaliyah Moore, 3 kills, 1 solo block, 3 aces; Desi Debase, 12 kills, 5 digs; Kennedy Pott, 20 digs; Dillie Collins had 9 digs and Macy Johnson added 5 digs.
    The Lady Cats are 13-14 overall.
    In sub-varsity action, the Sulphur Springs freshmen won 18-25, 25-13, 15-9 according to coach Jerrod Hammack.
     JV coach David Carrillo said the Sulphur Spring junior varsity lost 24-26, 25-19, 15-25.
