LINDALE — The Sulphur Springs tennis team lost 14-5 to the Jacksonville Indians in Saturday competition at Lindale High School.
In boys singles - Sulphur Springs managed to split six matches. Jayce Johnson won over Shoemaker, 6-3, 3-6, 10-7; Johnathan Philo defeated Martinee, 3-6, 6-3, 10-7; Tommy Helffrich won by default. Drew Sant lost his match to Christian Roper, 6-0, 6-1; Ryan Wilson fell to Garcia, 6-3, 7-5; Jesse Allen lost to Ferretiz 6-1, 6-1.
Kezli Cook was the only Sulphur Springs to win in singles action, she defeated Savage, 1-6, 6-4, 10-5. Morgan Sutton lost to Lee, 6-4, 6-1; Magan Smith was defeated by Merelez, 6-0, 6-4; Abbey Martin lost in three sets to Stickel, 3-6, 6-0, 10-5; Anne-Marie Winborn lost to Magan, 6-7, (7-5), 7-5, 10-8; Caroline Burns was defeated 6-1, 6-0 by Singleton.
In mixed doubles the Sulphur Springs team of Sant/Jaspyn Johnson fell to Landin/Ferretiz, 8-5.
Sulphur Springs was swept in girls doubles. Cook and M. Smith lost to Savage/Lee, 8-5; Sutton and Martin were defeated, 8-3 and Burns/Winborn lost 8-2 to Stickle/Singleton.
Sant and Helffrich teamed for a doubles win by default. In other boys doubles action Johnson and Philo lost against Roper/Garcia, 8-3; Wilson and Allen lost 8-3 to Shoemaker/Martinez.
The Sulphur Springs will host Mount Pleasant today at 4 p.m. at the high school courts.
