The Sulphur Springs Lady Cats fell to 11-14 on the year, losing a home match Saturday in four games against Mineola.

“The varsity lost a hard fought match to Mineola in four sets on Saturday.  The scores were 23-25, 25-11, 23-25, and 23-25,” said Michelle Rosen, Lady Cats head volleyball coach. “ Mineola came into the match ready to fight and compete, and it was a very intense, close match.  We are playing well, but our biggest issue right now is learning how to finish a match and fight all the way through the end of a match.”
Statistics from the game include: Katie Barnett had 10 assists and Shakoja Debase had 7 assists, 2 digs, and 3 aces.  Jessye Castro, 7 kills, 5 solo blocks, 2 aces and 4 digs.  Destiny Wade had 5 kills and 4 digs.  Libero Kennedy Potts had 17 digs and Macy Johnston chipped in with 5 digs.
The Sulphur Springs junior varsity won 20-25, 25-15, 25-16.
Coach David Carrillo said, “It was a great team effort. Everyone had the opportunity to play and contributed in the win.”
    No freshman game was played.
The Lady Cats play at home Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. against Quinlan Ford. The JV and ninth grade start at 5 p.m.
