CUMBY — Nick Folse rushed for 135 yards in a losing cause for Cumby as the Trojans fell 27-6 to Wolfe City at Frazier-Lawrence Field.
Folse had 11 carries in the game and sparked the offense. Quarterback Travis Taylor completed seven of 20 passes for 48 yards and one interception. Taylor ran 14 times for 23 yards and scored the only Cumby touchdown.
Folse had two catches for 14 yards. Dustin Heer caught one pass for 25 yards. Jim Evans and Noah Dyer had one pass reception each.
Cumby took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, but could not score again.
Wolfe City two tallies in the second period and added one touchdown in the each of the final quarters.
“Our kids played the best they have all season. Nick Folse had a great game rushing for 135 yards and added 11 tackles and caught an interception,” said Tom Dracos, Cumby head football coach. “We had a touchdown called back on a late flag in second quarter that was the difference. We didn't score and Wolfe City drove down and scored as time expired. Our kids have improved so much in last few weeks. Our goal isn’t to win the first five. It’s to win the last five.”
Cumby, 0-3, will play at undefeated Hawkins on Sept. 20 at 7:30 p.m.
