The Miller Grove Lady Hornets were in mid-season form taking volleyball wins over Union Hill and Sulphur Bluff.
The first action of the year, belonged to Miller Grove with two straight wins by 3-0 scores.
The Lady Hornets won 25-11, 25-14, 25-19 over Union Hill. Shelbi Potts had 10 kills and Brandie McLane turned in 8 assists.
Miller Grove defeated Sulphur Bluff, 25-15, 25-19, 25-16.
Potts had 16 kills to lead the way. McLane added 12 assists, 6 kills and Kaylan Bounds had 4 kills.
“This is a good start to the season. We did not scrimmage this weekend so we knew going in that there would be a few hiccups,” said Gary Billingsley, head coach. “Our effort is there however we still have a long way to go on the execution side of the game. But as long as the girls are getting after it we believe the other will take care of itself.”
The Lady Hornets are 2-0 and will next game at the Fulton Tournament in Rockwall. Games are set Thursday at 6 and 7 p.m.

The Sulphur Springs Baseball Association has partnered with the Lions Club to offer Bright Star Baseball. The season starts Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. at Buford Park.
The program is designed for players age 5-18 with special needs. Sign up is free of charge to eligible players.
