Heading into the scrimmage Friday at Liberty-Eylau, Sulphur Springs head football Greg Owens would like to see his team turn up the intensity.
The Wildcats, in their second week of pounding on each other, have fallen into a rut the coach says.

“We’re in a mundane routine and we need to get out of it,” Owens said. “We’re doing the work, but we need to be more aggressive and physical.”
Owens said, “For the scrimmage I want us to get after it. We need to compete and play with aggression and emotion. Right now I don’t see it.”
Owens said he has players who are leaders on the squad, but none have taken a vocal role.
The Wildcats will continue with workouts 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Thursday they will begin afternoon workouts at 3 p.m.
Friday, will be like a game day, the Wildcats scrimmaging Liberty-Eylau in Texarkana. While no formal schedule has been released, the varsity portion of the scrimmage was slated to begin at 7 p.m. following the sub-varsity teams.
Owens said the current varsity has 52 members for Sulphur Springs. Some injuries have been reported, it was not known how many players will be unable to play in the scrimmage due to injuries.
