Sulphur Springs athletes continued to turn out in large numbers at “The Edge” conditioning program.
The Wildcats are already the preseason pick to win district in football, but athletes in all sports are expected to compete at a high level.
The training is held Monday through Thursday at the multi-purpose building on the high school campus.
This week, the attendance again has climbed past the 100 student mark. Sulphur Springs coach Matt Young estimated 85-90 boys in action along with about 30 girls.
“You can see the improvement in the kids,” Young said. “We have some missing because of other opportunities like vacations, mission trips and baseball tournaments. But that is just reinforcement in our kids and how well-rounded they are. It is great for them to have those times away.”
The athletes will continue workouts this week, taking Friday off as usual, but putting in a full workout on Thursday, the Fourth of July.
Sulphur Springs athletes continue to train in “The Edge” and weight lifting program.
Both programs end on July 18.
