State T-ball tourney opens Saturday

    Sulphur Springs will be hosting the Dixie North State Regional T-ball Baseball Tournament Saturday through Wednesday.
    Games will be played at two fields at Buford Park with a total of 18 teams participating according to local officials.

    The Sulphur Springs Americans will play at 3 p.m. Saturday on Field 1 against the Mount Pleasant Nationals. If the Americans win, they will face the winner of the Sherman/Franklin County game at 9 p.m. Saturday. If the Americans lose, they will play at 4:30 p.m. also on Field 1.
    Other games Saturday on Field 1 include: 9 a.m. — Hooks  Blue vs. Marshall Nationals; 10:30 a.m. — White Oak vs. Broken Bow, Okla.; noon — Melissa vs. Atlanta Nationals; 1:30 p.m. — Sherman  Americans vs. Franklin County.
    Games on Field 2 include: 9:30 a.m. — Gunter vs. Honey Grove; 11 a.m. — Whitewright vs. Valiant; 12:30 p.m. — Hawkins vs. Bells; 2 p.m. — Lamar County vs. Waskom.
    The double elimination tournament continues through Wednesday.
    The last two teams to play will be the champion and the runner up.
    Each team will feature 12 players and four coaches.
    Also this weekend - Coleman Park will host a USFA softball tournament with games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
    Coleman Park will also host the Dixie Darlings State Tournament beginning July 19, according to the national website.
