Wildcats play finale in Mineola 7-on-7 league

Sulphur Springs will close out Mineola 7-on-7 league play and get some much-needed practice.

    The Wildcats have varsity games at 7 and 8 p.m. today at the main football stadium in Mineola. The opponent in not known at this time. Other teams in the league include Quitman, Winnsboro and Mount Vernon.
    The junior varsity plays today at Mineola with games set at 6 and 7 p.m. on practice fields.
    The Sulphur Springs varsity has done well in the league. The Wildcats are using the action for a tuneup for the state qualifier tournament Saturday in Tyler.
    In the Tyler SQT set for Lindsey Park, the Wildcats had three consecutive games in pool play.
    Sulphur Springs is in Pool B. Games include - 9 a.m. - on Field 5, they face Crosby; 10  a.m. on Field 5, the Wildcats meet the John Tyler B team; 11 a.m., Sulphur Springs plays Longview on Field 6.
    The winner of Pool B will play the winner of Pool A. The winner of Pool C and D also meet.
    The semi-final games are at 12:45 p.m. on Fields 1 and 2.
    The championship game is at 1:45 p.m. on Field 2.
    Other teams in the event include: Whitehouse, John Tyler, Beaumont Ozen, Magnolia West, Alto, Pine Tree, Lindale, Jacksonville, Lufkin and Tyler Lee.
