for ill youth
A co-ed softball benefit tournament for Dominic Ayala, sponsored Backwoodz Divaz and Hometown Subs and Pizzeria in Yantis, will be hosted Saturday June 8 at Coleman Park.
Three-year-old Ayala was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma earlier this year. He is currently undergoing his sixth round of chemotherapy after a large surgery. The tournament will be ASA modified - seven and three - co-ed regulations. Entry is a donation of $200 per team. About 16 teams have signed up, but 20 teams are needed for the tournament.
Volunteers would also be appreciated.
For more information or to sign up as a volunteer, call Stacy Crump at 903-440-0148 or Courtney Hoover at 903-440-3750. All funds raised benefit Dominic Ayala.
The Hopkins County Debs 18U girls softball team will play a challenge game for bragging rights against the Sulphur Springs Wildcat baseball team.
The contest is set Friday, June 14 at 6 p.m. at the high school softball field. Admission will be $3 or a suitable donation. Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Hopkins County Debs as they travel to an ASA tournament and Dixie State Tournament. The ASA tournament begins June 21 in Killeen and the Dixie 18U tournament starts July 21 in Fairfield.
