t’s a shame the Lady Cats and Wildcats play games tonight at the game time.
It’s also a shame that rain is in the forecast.
The Lady Cats open the playoffs at home against McKinney North.
The Wildcats host District 14-4A foe Marshall at Eagle Stadium.
Both games are set for 7 p.m.
Senior Night activities for the Wildcats begin at 6:45 p.m. as players and their families will be recognized in pre-game festivities according to Wildcats head baseball coach Jerrod Hammack.
Seniors to be honored include - Zach Miller, Cole Hill, Cabo Sanvig, Jenner Jackson, Jordan Jackson and Kason Matthews.
The Wildcats (16-9-1 5-4) meet Marshall (9-18, 2-7) in a game which could determine playoff positioning.
Hammack said, “The game is big for us. We could finish second or fourth, depending on how things come out. We want to get the win and go into the playoffs coming off a win at home.”
The Wildcats will be looking to continue their seven-game-winning streak in the friendly confines of Eagle Stadium.
The Lady Cats (19-12) take on McKinney North (15-4) in the first game of a Class 4A, bi-district best-of-three series. Game 2 is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at McKinney North. Game 3, if needed, will be Monday at 7 p.m. also in McKinney.
Sulphur Springs is hitting .295 as a team and won 6 of 10 games in district play. The Lady Cats feature a balanced lineup with four of the starting nine posting more than 20 RBIs each and a batting average of .289 or above.
Hailey Dixon will get the start for the Lady Cats in the pitching circle. She has 15-9 mark with 212 strikeouts.
McKinney’s North Celeste Verdolivo is 15-2 and expected to start. Top hitter for the Lady Bulldogs in University of Texas signee Taylor McAllister who is hitting . 611.
